The Monster & The Butcher: The Dramatic Hunt For Two Brutal Nazi Officers

1987 was a dramatic year for Nazi Hunters as two notorious wanted men finally prepared to face justice. SS Officer Klaus Barbie was accused of waging a vicious campaign of torture and mass murder. Ukrainian born John Demjanjuk was alleged to be ‘Ivan the Terrible’, a brutal guard working at Trebelinka extermination camp. Deported to Israel from the USA, where he had lived happily for 35 years, Demjanjuk was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. But on appeal, he was acquitted. The Hunters had not finished however. In 2009, the now 89-year-old was accused of working in another death camp and charged with 27,900 counts of murder. Welcome to The World History Channel.
