Cove Mountian Camp After Devil's Coach Road
I’m in the Mourne Mountains, taking on the Devil’s Coach Road with full camping gear on my back before pushing on for a wild camp on Cove Mountain. The route starts from the Red Gate, following the Dunny Water track through the forest and into Annalong Valley before climbing the steep scree and scrambling ground of the Devil’s Coach Road. After battling strong winds higher up, I continue across Slieve Beg and on towards Cove Mountain to get the tent pitched before dark. The next morning I continue the route over Lamagan, but worsening weather, strong winds and a brutal hail shower eventually force a change of plan before dropping back down through rough ground towards the Dunny Water track.
