Ruapehu: Weaving together western science and mātauranga Māori
Ngāti Rangi whakapapa to Maunga Ruapehu and consider him their 'Koro'. Kaitiaki (guardians) from the iwi have been working together with volcano scientists, weaving together mātauranga about the maunga with western science approaches. In this video, representatives from Ngāti Rangi and Prof Jon Procter from Massey University share how they are working together to deepen knowledge of volcanic risk, and build the resilience of local communities.
