Sheikh Muhammad ibn Shams al-Din then reminisced about a previous scholarly debate he had with Sheikh Ahmad al-Imami, during which he detailed the theological dialogue that took place between them. He noted that throughout the debate, he urged his guest to refer to the verses of the Holy Quran as the arbiter, but the other party—as he described it—failed to provide a single verse to support his beliefs or to refute the Quranic arguments presented by the Sheikh. Instead, he resorted to searching for errors attributed to Sunni scholars like Ibn Taymiyyah or Ibn Uthaymeen to evade the original challenge. The Sheikh stated that the Imamite denied the possibility of seeing God Almighty and did not affirm His attribute of true mercy, in addition to his belief in declaring prominent Companions such as Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Aisha (may God be pleased with them) as disbelievers. He then pondered how a person could meet his Lord with such beliefs. In a related context, the Sheikh highlighted the positive impact of the debate, mentioning a Telegram channel called "Gardens of the Guided," a platform dedicated to sharing the stories of those who have embraced Islam and converted from Shi'ism and other sects to the Sunni school of thought. He affirmed that a large number of Shiites who watched the debate realized the clear weakness of their doctrine in the face of the revealed texts, prompting them to re-examine their beliefs and embrace Sunni Islam after becoming convinced that the Holy Quran clearly supports their approach. The Sheikh also offered an objective critique of the phenomenon of sectarian fanaticism, asserting that belonging to a particular sect or environment—whether Sufi, Azharite, Salafi, or the seminaries of Qom and Najaf—is not in itself a criterion for discerning the truth. He argued that environments and upbringing are not legitimate measures; rather, the sole criterion is conformity to the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and complete adherence to them. In this regard, he praised the quality of returning to the truth when it becomes clear, considering it an application of the attributes of "the penitent" and "the repentant," which God loves. He refuted the criticism leveled against him by some when he retracts an opinion that has proven to be erroneous. In the final section of his address, the Sheikh directed a lengthy and specific message to those affiliated with the Salafi school of thought and the Sunnis, urging them to adhere to their scholarly principles when evaluating individuals after their deaths.
