How To Study Film as a Basketball Player | Improve your IQ
How to study film as a basketball player to improve your IQ. Studying film is a crucial aspect of improving as a player and getting to a higher level. Studying film can be great for so many reasons such as improving your IQ, leadership, improve your ability to make reads, etc. You can study other players' film, but also study your own film. In today's video, we are going to show you how to break down film as a basketball player. Step # 1 is attacking the film session with some sort of goal. What are you trying to learn? Just like how you wouldn't step onto the court and just wing it (although most people still do that) hoping to get better. Have a general goal in mind, am I trying to learn new moves, new footwork, game situational IQ, passing reads, etc? The goal you approach the film session with will become the lens you see everything through. Step #2 How to find the film. Youtube will be the most accessible way to do this for sure but there is other resources such as synergy. But if you have access to youtube you have plenty. Depending on what you are looking to watch that can be a full game or even a certain player. Watching full games can be great because you see just as much of what didn't work as what did work. A great resource is @evingualberto Step #3 Is actually watching it. Watch it one time through and just watch the play in general then pick it apart, maybe watch every player. Watch the moves they did, how they moved without the ball think of what read they saw that lead them to make that decision. Watch the same play 5-10 times to see what you can pick up. Do this over and over again watching different levels of play, NCAA, overseas, NBA. Learn how players move, why they do what they do, etc. Shop Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/shop/tjltraining
