Akhnoor: The Ancient City with a Rich Heritage

Akhnoor is a historical place situated at about 28 Kms from Jammu city. There are many places of cultural and historical significance here. At the bank of river Chenab, we find Jia Pota Ghat, a historical place that finds special place for Dogra Dynasty. Maharaja Ranjit Singh , Emperor of Punjab had himself solemnized the coronation of Raja Gulab Singh as the ruler of J & K at this very sacred place. We also find a beautiful temple Durga Mandir on the river bank which is thronged by devotees especially during religious festivals and fairs. There is also a historical place nearby which is well known as Pandav Cave.
