Branda do Alhal | Sistelo | Arcos de Valdevez

The vernacular constructions in false dome (cardenhas and cortelhos) existing in the Peneda-Gerês National Park, constitute an example of authenticity and the adaptation of the communities to the mountain environment where they are inserted. Branda do Alhal, groups a group of these buildings, as well as an arrangement of houses and pasture fields that caught our attention. The brandas are located between the forest and the top of the mountain, where alternate ground areas and hillside areas. On floors of deep soils, rest of erosion surfaces, the soft ones are installed. The rest of the area, with more steep slopes, belongs to the forest. This appears to be a bland of cattle.
