Moderator: Amara Fehring, Wyoming Arts Council Speakers: Dr. Ashlea Espinal: Dr. Espinal joined the Whitney Western Art Museum in November 2021 as Curatorial Assistant and was promoted to Assistant Curator in May 2023. Before joining the Whitney, Espinal completed a MA in Art and Museum Studies at Georgetown University in 2010, and her doctorate in Native American Art History at the University of Oklahoma in 2019. Her area of focus is contemporary Native arts, and her research and curatorial work merge the disciplines of art history, visual culture, and cultural memory. She is particularly interested in how knowledge is stored and transmitted through art, and how this enables history to be visually written through art and objects. Dr. Tiger Robison: Tiger Robison, Ph.D., is an associate professor of music education at the University of Wyoming, where he teaches courses in general music methods, aural theory, global music, songwriting, and popular music pedagogy. Tiger also works with the University of Wyoming Pathways from Prison program to help deliver quality college courses free of charge to students currently incarcerated in Wyoming prisons. He has diverse research interests related to gender, music teacher career paths, and early childhood music education, which have been published in the Journal of Research in Music Education among other venues.
