Two Men Arrested on Good Friday: “We Wanted to Try Our Luck at Robbing with a Weapon” On Good Friday, two men were arrested in the city of Matola, accused of attempted robbery with the use of a firearm. One of the detainees claims he has never committed robbery and assures he was unaware of the weapon's existence. His accomplice confirms the weapon was in his possession, but alleges it does not belong to him and claims the true owner is a young man whose identity he did not reveal. The suspect added that he intended to “try his luck” using the weapon to rob people carrying money and assures that he never intended to fire any shots. The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), in Matola, explained that the arrest was made possible thanks to a tip-off. The suspects were intercepted while trying to flee, and two other individuals managed to escape.
