The Southern Pacific Streamlined Daylight Steam Locomotives - A History and Technical Specifications
This short vintage rail film discusses the technical specifications and history of the Southern Pacific 4-8-4 Northern-type Daylight steam locomotives (GS2, GS3, GS4, and GS5). SP 4449 is the only remaining preserved GS4 locomotive. SP 4460, also featured in this film, is the only preserved GS6. Shots include the Coast Daylight, San Joaquin Daylight, Lark, Overland Route, City of San Francisco, San Francisco local commuters, and the final steam-powered trip on the Southern Pacific Railroad led by 4460.
