FTGC-39 1 CORINTHIANS 15 & THE DOCTRINE OF RESURRECTION BODIES--THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING IN LIFE!

It's amazing to launch this week's chapter from here in Greece where we are teaching for the next several weeks. Praying for your growth in God's Word as you continue on our journey through the Scriptures in these 52 weeks. FTGC Week-39 1 Corinthians 15 Title: Resurrection, The Gospel of Life Eternal & Our Lives Summary: Paul had already preached the Gospel of Christ’s Resurrection in Athens (Acts 17) before coming to Corinth in Acts 18. They laughed at him in Athens because Greeks didn’t believe in the resurrection. So Paul had to retrain those who lived in another Greek city called Corinth, who came out of Greek paganism--with these strong doses of the truth. But this chapter is not just doctrinal, it is also very powerfully applicable to their lives then, and our lives now. The truth of our resurrection changes everything about our lives here on Earth today, as we will soon see. Application Prayer: Lord, I believe that Jesus came, lived, died, and rose just like Your Word says. You DIED for my sins. You were BURIED with my sins forever taken away. You ROSE so that I could be purchased from the slave market of sin, and raised to sit in Heaven with You. Thank you for my celestial body waiting for Your coming and my transformation. I also am unworthy to serve You, but want to each day. Thanks for such an indescribable future. I choose to labor for You today knowing it will last forever and glorify you. Amen THE IMPLICATIONS OF RESURRECTION APPLIED 1. CONTINUE EVANGELISM v.29: we keep sharing the Gospel as believers die because we believe that they are with the Lord and we always need people to make up the Body of Christ’s Church. 2. ENDURE PERSECUTION v.30-32: Paul died daily meant Pau’s life was regularly endangered yet he went on (2 Cor. 4:8-5:10; 11:23-28) because he believed he would stand and give an account for what he did “in his body” for the Lord, not just in his mind or soul—but his body that would be resurrected. Paul knew God promised that sufferings now yield glory for eternity (2 Cor. 4:7-18). 3. RESIST SIN v.33-34: we are also going to give an account to God for what we did with these bodies that were His temple (2 Cor. 6:14-7:1). God has already told us to have nothing to do with the deeds of darkness (Eph. 5:6-17) so because our bodies will be resurrected we must look up and get rid of any filth (1 Th. 5:4-11). 4. ANTICIPATE HEAVEN v.35-38, 39, 40-41, 42-48: seeds burst into indescribably greater beautiful form and function. As much as the flesh of humans and animals are different v.39, so the coming body we get will be different—like our bodies, but not the same bodies reconstituted. God says we will be “transformed” not put back together at the resurrection. Just as our earthly bodies (terrestrial) are amazingly built and functional, the wonders of the coming heavenly (celestial) bodies v.40-41 are impossible for us to conceive of—but Christ’s resurrection body gives us some clues. He was unrestrained by distance or by physical barriers. Yet He could be seen, touched, eat, and talk. He was glorified and yet present as our hope. 5. LIVE IN VICTORY v.49-58: we in Christ’s resurrection now have victory (“triumph” in 2 Cor. 2:14) over sin, death, and the law.
