Growing tropical Bromeliads in cold weather | Tips & plant tour

Tropical and exotic Bromeliads are tough, colourful and specialised plants that have adapted to thrive in locations around the world. There are lots of different Bromeliad genus, species and cultivars available due to their long history of cultivation and breeding. The four Bromeliad genus I grow are Billbergia, Aechmea, Neoregelia and Tillandsia. In cold weather conditions these exotic epiphytes have been growing in my frost free greenhouse. Their colours have shifted with the varying availability of heat and daylight as the seasons changed. Some are growing bare root, some are wrapped in sphagnum moss and others are potted in a free draining orchid mix.
