Diagnosing My Tesla Model Y A/C Failure Before Spending $4,000

In this episode of Project Rosie, I take my 2021 Tesla Model Y Performance to Serenity EV in Surprise, Arizona, to diagnose an intermittent air conditioning failure that only seems to happen when you need it most. Instead of guessing or replacing expensive parts, we walk through Tesla Service Mode, explain the isentropic compressor fault, analyze refrigerant pressures and temperatures, and determine whether the issue is a low refrigerant charge or an internal compressor failure. To make things even more interesting, the car throws an unexpected high-voltage battery fault while we're diagnosing the A/C, changing the direction of the project entirely. Rather than replacing the compressor like Tesla typically recommends, we're going to attempt something you don't often see—rebuilding the compressor to find out if it's possible to save thousands of dollars. Part 2 is where we tear into the compressor and find out if it can actually be repaired.
