Documenting an organisation’s Risk Appetite is not easy at the best of times. For it to be truly useful, the main challenges are to ensure the Risk Appetite Statement is organisation-specific, sufficiently informative that it sends a clear message and is responsive to internal and/or external changes where appropriate. Strong understanding of an organisation’s Risk Appetite by all stakeholders is vital to achieving the organisation’s strategic objectives in a risk aware manner.
