Why Ethiopia and South Sudan are After Kenya’s $25 Billion Project

For more than 10 years, Kenya has been quietly constructing LAPSSET — The Lamu Port–South Sudan–Ethiopia Transport Corridor. This is Kenya's project — backed by the African Union, written into Kenya's own long-term national development plan and it's one of the largest infrastructure builds anywhere on the continent, with a price tag around $25 billion. Now, Ethiopia and South Sudan want to use it.
