Why You NEVER Install an Electrical Outlet Inside a Septic Pit

Installed this system back in 2022. Two years later, the pump goes out right after the warranty expires — pretty sure Thor and Zeus had something to do with it. We replaced it (gave the customer a hefty discount because that's how we roll), and figured we'd see them in five years for a routine pump. Couple months later? Alarm dead, system backed up, pit full to the top with black water. Turns out somebody — not us, because we're not electricians — installed a regular household electrical outlet on the inside wall of the pump pit. That outlet got submerged in sewage, fried the control panel, and let all the smoke out of the electronics. We told them to move it the first time. We told them to move it the second time. Now it's our fourth callback to a house I've installed in eight years, and the universe is straight up conspiring against us.
