Why European Governments Are Building Their Own Microsoft Alternative
Eight European technology companies have launched Euro-Office, an open source office suite designed to give European governments a fully Microsoft-compatible alternative built under European legal jurisdiction. The push is driven by legal exposure under the US CLOUD Act, which allows American authorities to request data from US companies regardless of where it is stored. Germany's Schleswig-Holstein is already saving more than fifteen million euros a year in license costs after migrating to open source software, Denmark is planning a full national transition by the end of this year, and European sovereign cloud spending is projected to more than triple to twenty-three billion dollars by 2027. This video explains what Euro-Office is, why European governments are moving now, and what it means for Microsoft's dominance in a market where it currently holds between seventy-three and eighty percent of public sector productivity software. #EuroOffice #DigitalSovereignty #MicrosoftEurope #OpenSource #TheEconomicBrief If you liked the video hit that like button and subscribe for more!
