Well, well, well. I’ve seen these spheres before. I had always thought they were ornamental, and even included them in my first “old world” photography collage from almost a year ago. At that time I had little to no idea the purpose of these massive metal spheres. Today, while researching time-keeping in the way back when, I discovered the “Astrolabe”. The name itself rolls of the tongue with pizzazz. An astrolabe 1000 years ago was like having the world in your hands, literally.
