Astrolabes, Armillary Spheres, Astronomy Built Antiquitech, Gyroscopes, Old China, Arabia (Tartary?)
Well, well, well. I’ve seen these spheres before. I had always thought they were ornamental, and even included them in my first “old world” photography collage from almost a year ago. At that time I had little to no idea the purpose of these massive metal spheres. Today, while researching time-keeping in the way back when, I discovered the “Astrolabe”. The name itself rolls of the tongue with pizzazz. An astrolabe 1000 years ago was like having the world in your hands, literally. Today we dive into the Astrolabe, Armillary Sphere, their histories (according to our current narrative), as well as their technical aspects. Just a short, freestyle video of sorts. Thanks for taking the time to stop by! Please leave your thoughts below.
