*ROADTRIP BY SCOOTER THROUGH INDONESIA – DAY 22 – THE PINK SISTERS – In Prayer Until Death – Attractions in the RUTENG Area, Flores Island* This is one video from a series of videos showcasing a roadtrip or scooter excursion through Indonesia, specifically through a few islands east of Bali. I packed a small bag with a few clothes and each day explored places I had never been to before. I had a destination in mind, but I didn’t set a specific route or itinerary. I adapted on the go and was open to making adjustments based on my mood, fatigue, or what I discovered along the way. After visiting the Hobbit Cave (   • Oasele de pigmeu (HOMO FLORESIENSIS) din P...  ), I returned to Ruteng to visit a monastery. This is the SSpS Adorasi Abadi Monastery (SSpS Monastery of Perpetual Adoration). This monastery is part of a network of monasteries across all continents belonging to the SSpS, the Catholic congregation of the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit. The SSpS was founded by the Dutchman Arnold Janssen in 1889. The sisters who are part of this congregation spend their entire lives in prayer, isolated from the outside world. They are not allowed to leave the monastery under any circumstances and will remain there until their death. There are bars separating the outer area from the sisters’ quarters, but from behind the bars, I managed to have a brief conversation with one of them. In the SSpS Monastery of Perpetual Adoration, 24 sisters live their lives. They take turns, 24 hours a day, to pray at the church altar.
