1970-71 Television Season 50th Anniversary: Julia (Diahann Carroll '71 Cavett Interview)
Happy Valentine's Day 2021 everyone. We celebrate today with a lovely women in red - the wonderful Diahann Carroll, and the final segment of her 1971 interview with Dick Cavett on The Dick Cavett Show. Ms. Carroll had just wrapped up her landmark hit television NBC series 'Julia', and was discussing and reflecting with Mr. Cavett her childhood and young adult years living in New York City. Julia was just finishing its ground breaking and successful three year run, debuting on September 17, 1968, and ending its network broadcast run on March 23, 1971 A truly remarkable series that presented a black woman in America in that critical transitional period of the late 1960's into the early 1970's; and Ms. Carroll was fantastic, and a true pioneer and trail blazer for the television industry. This video clip is presented here on YouTube for the entertainment and informational value of the viewer, and no copyright infringement is intended. Enjoy ! Much more coming later today and this week with our tribute to Diahann Carroll and a surprise (should be no surprise!) Television Vanguard announcement regarding Ms. Carroll and her television legacy.
