I had never walked these streets before. This walk began with a panoramic view over İzmir Bay, but everything changed when I noticed a narrow staircase leading up to a side street. I decided to climb it without knowing where it would lead. From that moment on, every street felt like a new discovery—old hillside houses standing beside abandoned homes, colorful façades, quiet corners, flower pots, curious cats, and unexpected views of the bay appearing between the buildings. The route kept surprising me. I climbed steep streets, wandered through narrow passages, and later found another long staircase hidden among the trees. I followed it out of curiosity, only to realize it led all the way down to Konak. Throughout the walk, the sound of cicadas never stopped, becoming part of the atmosphere from beginning to end.
