Long COVID Research Updates and Hispanic Community Impact

This Brain Inflammation Collaborative webinar featured Dr. Hector Bonilla discussing research perspectives on Long COVID and Kelsey Aguirre presenting the Spanish-language version of our patient platform, unhide (www.unhidenow.org). Dr. Bonilla provided an overview of Long COVID, explaining its global impact, pathobiological mechanisms, including viral persistence and immune dysregulation. He detailed the clinical spectrum from acute infection to chronic symptoms affecting multiple organ systems, and discussed prevention strategies and treatment approaches, including anti-inflammatory drugs and immunomodulators. Kelsey Aguirre demonstrated the new Spanish-language features of BIC’s Unhide platform, which now allows Spanish-speaking patients to track symptoms, connect wearables, and participate in research studies in Spanish. The webinar concluded with a Q&A session in which Dr. Bonilla addressed questions about symptom evolution, treatment approaches, and the importance of representation of Spanish-speaking participants in research studies. \ Who We Are: The Brain Inflammation Collaborative is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and managing a research-grade database that supports both patients and researchers.
