India’s military restructuring plan is nearing approval as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General N.S. Raja Subramani, is set to present the final integrated theatre command blueprint to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Once cleared by the minister, the proposal will go to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for final approval. The Indian Army has activated the first five Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) and one Fire Support Group (FSG) under the China-facing 17 Mountain Strike Corps.
