A short(ish) discourse on Hauser Guitars

About the photographer and videographer-https://www.asmunderickson.com About Aaron Green and The Spanish Guitar Workshop-https://www.thespanishguitarworkshop.com When I was recently fortunate enough to represent the 1947 Hauser ex Cecil, it occurred to me that perhaps I should do a video about the guitar itself. That guitar is the stuff of mythology and one I have had a long history with so it seemed appropriate. After a few attempts that eventually turned into what you see here...a somewhat of the cuff discussion of not only that guitar ( which was still in my possession at the time) but the other examples of Hauser guitars that I have/had in stock. These instruments represent a good overview of the work of Hauser I in the Spanish tradition and the very beginnings of the independent career of his son, Hermann Hauser II. And suffice to say, a rather impressive line up by any standards. I wanted to approach this video as my impressions of Hauser from the perspective of a guitar maker who has studied his work closely for many years. I have been fortunate to represent a number of his guitars and in my capacity as a restorationist, handle these guitars ( in some cases) deconstructed to their individual components. Which can be an incredibly enlightening experience if you wish to understand a builder's work. To give credit where due, that is because of my partnership with my friend Karl Franks. Such work is the norm for the violin guys (which he is) less so for us guitar folks but between the two of us, all in a day's work. As I mention at the end of the video, there has been some real valuable scholarly work done on the guitars and life/career of Hermann Hauser. Most notably by R.E Brune here in the U.S and Michael Herrmann in Germany. Both men have contributed to our understanding of Hauser and his guitars and for that I am exceedingly thankful. However it was not really my intent to go over the ground they already covered so well, but rather compare and contrast these guitars I have in stock, the stories around these guitars and point out the things that inspire me about them. Since this video was filmed, the 1947 ex Cecil has gone to its new home, the 1953 has sold and the 1941 is currently on hold for a dear friend and client. I have the 1928 ex Romero, the 1936 Segovia model, the 1936 Llobet model I mention but did not bring out. I would be delighted to discuss any of these guitars with any interested parties. I am also happy to expand on anything I said in the video if it brings up a question you would like answered.
