There are true Collectors that accumulate many many watches. Maybe they Collect specific Watch Brands or specific Watch Types. Maybe they collect some of absolutely everything. They just want more. Then there are the Watch Enthusiasts that only collect a few very specific watches that fit a particular need, or desire. That's me, the Watch Enthusiast. I limit my Watch Collection to 6 pieces. That number became the limit when Amy bought me a Watch box with 6 slots for Christmas. Keeping your watch collection to only 6 pieces isn't easy. First of all when I received the box I had around 12 watches. So immediately I had to figure out which 6 would make the cut. Fortunately by that time I already had a few favorites, and also had a good idea of what I like most in a watch. Honestly the watch in this video was purchased much later but if I had it then it would have made the cut, but not for the reasons it does now. At that time the cost of the watch was more of a factor, and the Brand mattered more also. I wasn't anywhere near as interested in Microbrand watches as I am now. I just didn't know enough about Microbrands. The Pilot watch and Field watch style generally don't appeal to me because usually they are quite boring designs. They are nostalgic timepieces for those of you that served in the military and I get that. I spent a short amount of time with the Canadian Army Reserves but never actually served and at that time owned a Citizen Promaster because I was into Scuba diving. A Field watch wasn't on my radar at all. When I purchased this watch I wasn't looking to add a Pilot's watch to my collection. I was actually checking out a Mido Ocean Star, and during my conversation with the Salesperson he challenged my dislike for Military style watches by showing me the Alpina. Obviously I was impressed and despite the 44mm case which normally I wouldn't even consider it fit my wrist well. It was about I year later when I found one for a very good price and pulled the trigger. Are there specific watch styles that you avoid, and what would it take for you to change your mind about them?
