It's a unique place, straddling the world's longest border. The Haskell Library is located on the U.S.-Canadian border in the towns of Stanstead, Quebec, and Derby Line, Vermont. Until now, an agreement allowed Canadians to use a section of sidewalk on the American side to access the library. But following a visit by the head of the Department of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, appointed by Donald Trump, the Border Protection Service announced the end of the agreement. While waiting to learn the fate of its century-old customs posts and the famous "Canusa" Street, the small Quebec town of Stanstead already embodies the growing divide that separates Americans and Canadians.
