A solo road trip about books, places, and starting over. Leaving Washington with Raven for the San Francisco Half Marathon sounded simple enough—until the Oregon traffic, Shasta storms, and one very unhappy dog. By the time I made it to the marathon expo and my “budget motel with free parking,” things had gone sideways in more ways than one.
