Record mondiale di consegne per un rider palermitano: "So le vie di Palermo a memoria"

Thousands of kilometers a month, three scooters saved up, ten hours of work a day. But above all, 25,255 orders in just over three years. These are the world record numbers of 38-year-old Francesco Ruffino from Palermo: he is the person who has made the most deliveries for the delivery platform Glovo. He started working for the Spanish multinational on October 13, 2017, after becoming unemployed. "I start at noon and finish around 10:00. Every day, every day, without holidays. At the end of the month, after deducting expenses, taxes, and contributions, I manage to bring in €1,400-1,500," he says. Francesco is an exception. According to Glovo data, most riders do this job occasionally: more than 20 percent don't make a delivery after the first month of collaboration, and more than 75 percent don't make one after the sixth month. A few minutes after 12, the first order arrives promptly on his smartphone: a sandwich to be delivered downtown. He looks at the street and gets on his scooter, without looking at Google Maps. "I almost never consult it. This is my secret: after years of working in the industry, I know all the streets by heart." by Giorgio Ruta Subscribe to Repubblica: https://s.repubblica.it/scopridipiu .
