Documentation required to get married in Denmark

If you are looking at getting married in Denmark, whether it be alone or with an Agency such as Marry Abroad Simply, you are going to need to know which documents are required in order to get married in Denmark. There is so much information on the website about different documents required for a wedding on a Danish Island, or in Copenhagen City Hall, or for Danish Agency of Family Law, or on different Government and Embassy websites. All of them are different, as they are all published at different times so were correct at the time of writing. But as of 2019 the list was standardised for the whole of Denmark, and centralised through the Danish Agency of Family Law/Familieretshuset. And you absolutely DO NOT need Marital Status certificates or birth certificates. But there are different documents required if you are looking to get married as an International or foreign couple looking for a Danish wedding. This Video outlines that you will always need Travel document (passport or EU ID) Residency permit (if you are living in a country not your own and require one) VISA for entry into Denmark (if not covered by permit or VISA free. travel) Decree of divorce or death certificate (if you are previously married) Utility bill or residency letter/similar (if you are registered legally as living together - but it is fine if you are not) If you have shared children then the birth certificates of the children Relationship document that just outlines how, where and when you met as we need to evidence longevity and contact. There is an online application process, which can be a little difficult to navigate and we do advise that you speak to a us as an Agency to help you, because it is not as simple as just adding the documents, and contacting the Agency of Family Law or changing a wedding venue can be very difficult to do if you are not an Agency.
