Not just any film either- we're taking a look at a manga based on one of the greatest horror films ever made: A Nightmare On Elm Street. A film about a group of teenagers who are being targeted by the spirit of a serial killer named Freddy Krueger in their dreams. If they are killed in said dreams, they die in real life. We'll additionally be checking out how this manga adaptation came to be in Monthly Halloween. By seeing how they match up to their source material. To better illustrate this, I've incorporated a rating system which I'll bring up at the end of each video. The rating system is out of 10. which will mainly be in two categories based on how the adaptation matches up to the source material. 3 points for adapting the characters correctly, as getting the characters right is one of, if not the most important part of any adaptation. This goes for the main characters, side characters, and the antagonists if there are any. 3 points for how the story relates to the source material. The story does not have to be a perfect match by any means, as I do understand writers need to condense what is usually a long and drawn-out concept into only a few hours, however, I am looking for at least a few similar elements of the original plot within the film. I'm also looking to see if the story, in particular, is accessible to both fans of the manga, and casual viewers alike. And finally 4 points for how it holds up as both a film (or manga in this case) and as an adaptation. As we could very well be looking at a very good film (or manga in this case), but just not a good adaptation from the original source material.
