In this Episode we visit Japan, with the famous deaf-blind writer and social activist, Helen Keller and her companion Polly Thomson. Transcript: Caption #1. Tokyo. Japan Hails Helen Keller. #2. Year - 1948. #3. Helen Keller toured Japan, as America's very first goodwill ambassador. #4. Helen visited the devastated city of Hiroshima. #%. Helen placed flowers at the Hiroshima Memorial Site. #6. She lit the first candle in the shrine dedicated to her teacher, Anne Sullivan at "The Lake of Shrines." #7. Helen was getting older. The trip was a physical challenge for her. #8. Helen's message to the discouraged people of japan was "Get Moving. Give to those among you who have even less. That will bring you hope. Imagine a better world and you can create it. You will have it." #9. She brought a message of courage and hope to the people of Japan, after the devastation of World War Two. #10. To this day, Helen Keller is a revered figure to the people of Japan.
