Plenty Of Action At East Lancs Railway Summer Diesel Gala 02/07/26

Join us as we head to the East Lancashire Railway for the first time for their Summer Diesel Gala. A 4 day event with three visiting locos including: BR Class 58 58 023 'Leicester Depot' Courtesy of Edward Stevenson BR Class 37 37 610 Courtesy of Swietelsky UK BR Class 20 20 303 Courtesy of Swietelsky UK as well as a range of home fleet diesel traction as well running a mix of freight and passenger services across the event. We start off at Burrs Country Park a 36 hectares (89 acres) site on the banks of the River Irwell, in the north of the town of Bury, Greater Manchester, England. In which houses a platform of the East Lancs Railway. After a plethora of services passing through we continue North following alongside the railway past Irwell Weir, and crossing the railway at various points, before arriving at Summerseat Station. Here numerous services continue to thunder past with various non-stop services as well as a couple of stopping services with 58 023 & 37 610. We then take a look round Summerseat Nature Reserve before continuing north further still to Brooksbottom Hiking Area where the ELR passes underneath the hill through two tunnels. We then loop back round just before reaching Nuttall Park and retrace our steps heading south passing back through Summerseat to Burrs Country Park.
