Pisang Peak Climb 2024
The rock pyramid of Pisang Peak (Jong Ri) next to the Annapurna Range, an attempt at this 6000 meter peak with Chandra Rai. Part one video was of the trek to the base. This part 2 video covers mixed rock/ice climbing, hanging around basecamp with yaks, and breath-taking views of Annapurna II which is just short of 8000 meters across the valley. Pisang Peak is considered a "beginner peak" by many guiding companies but this is not accurate. Experience with rock and ice climbing, also with delicate climbing on loose alpine rock is necessary for a safe trip. It is a low altitude for Himalayan peaks which makes a great training for higher peaks that may have the same dry tooling work. I ran short on time this trip so I could not make a 2nd attempt. See the first video which was an amazing cultural experience on the Annapurna Circuit Trek. Hiring local porters and guides is a good thing as it provides great job opportunities for locals, also hanging out with locals is a more authentic cultural experience during your trip to Nepal.
