Mr. P. Presents: Euclid Beach Park (Cleveland, OH: 1895-1969)
Euclid Beach Park (1895 – September 28, 1969) was a popular and much loved amusement park located on the southern shore of Lake Erie in the Collinwood neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio. Many Clevelanders remember spending glorious days and nights there riding the many old-school roller coasters (including the Thriller and Flying Turns), eating the traditional "Kisses," Frozen Whip and Popcorn Balls (items all invented and sold at the park by the owners, the Humphrey family), or spending a day picnicking among the sycamores, diving off the pier and splashing around at the beach. As a life-long fan of the park (who oddly wasn't even born yet when it closed in 1969), I wanted to put together a small tribute to the park that fascinated me as a kid through stories my relatives would tell and via the many books I acquired on it. The song in the video is by the Euclid Beach Band, entitled "No Surf in Cleveland,"(song not owned by myself and not being used for profit) and the video clips are taken from various home movies, news footage and clips found on YouTube.
