It has a population of around 24,642 people. The town is situated on the eastern edge of St Helens, south of Wigan, and north of Warrington, making it a convenient location to both Liverpool and Manchester. The town has a rich history, dating back to at least the 12th century. It saw significant urban development in the early 19th century to support the construction of the Liverpool and Manchester. The Sankey Canal and the Sankey Viaduct, built by George Stephenson, are notable landmarks in the area. Newton-le-Willows is also known for its two historic railway stations, Newton-le-Willows railway station and Earlestown railway station, which were opened in 1830. Earlestown became the administrative and commercial center of the township. This is a lovely little hidden gem in the north west of England and well worth a visit. Happy Travels x
