Nikola Márová – balet se nedá dělat bez pokory

The first soloist of the National Theater ballet and prima ballerina, Nikola Márová, was my guest in the next episode of Athletic Longevity podcast. This episode revolves around the challenges that ballet artists face during their careers and how Nikola Márová was able to cope with them. From what Nikola shared with me, I understood that ballet can be compared to the most demanding sports disciplines and that in order for a ballerina to maintain her dancing performance, she must above all be patient and have a strong will. Nevertheless, along with hard work and constant training, the joy of dancing and a true love for the art of ballet must not be missing. In the interview, we focused on the topic of movement longevity and, among other things, I asked about how Nikola manages to maintain her dancing performance at an age when most ballerinas end their careers. It is remarkable that, despite the fact that the prima ballerina faced many health problems in her career, she always managed to return to the stage and constantly improve her performance. Certainly also thanks to the fact that she was always able to put not only innate talent and hard work into her path as a ballerina, but also inner strength, determination and a sincere love for dance. And as Nikola revealed to me, moments of transformation into other characters on stage within the role, become a source of energy and inspiration for the ballerina. The interview goes through these main topics: 01:20-- Keep dancing: Experience, diligence and luck 13:12-- The power of the stage experience: How dancers find inspiration 27:05-- The Artists vs. the performer: Nikola Márová on constant improvement 42:04-- Trust between dance partners: The key to a perfect performance 55:11-- Passing the art of ballet into the hands of the next generation You are invited to listen to this episode and if you like it, share it and recommend it to your friends.
