Delaware Lackawanna NARCOA/NJTE 2023 Excursion | Carbondale Branch

New Jersey Trackcar Excursions (NJTE), along with the North American Railcar Operators Association (NARCOA), held day two of their annual Delaware Lackawanna Railroad excursion on August 20, 2023. Once again a friend and I arrived at the DL's Bridge 60 on Sunday morning for what was to be a 40 mile round trip from Scranton, PA to Carbondale, PA. Day 2 proved to be a bit more problematic for some people. Due to the many grade crossings on the Carbondale branch, the speed of the trip would be a very very slow paced trip. About a 1/4 way into the trip, one motorcar lost it's exhaust and muffler on a flood gate which we crossed over. After stopping for the now very loud motorcar, the car in front of me could not get started again. I ended up pushing the broke down M19 motorcar with my M19 for 1/4 mile or so until we caught up with the car in front of him so he could be towed till the end of the line. Once in Carbondale, the motorcars were all turned. A bunch of operators began trying to get the broke down M19 running agin. After a diagnosis of a fuel issue, the operator began cleaning out the fuel system. Once everything was buttoned up again, we began out trip back to Scranton, this time I had the M19 in tow. After being towed for a couple miles, the operator of the broke down M19 was able to bump start his car and was able to continue the rest of the trip on their own.
