You Need a Revelation of Righteousness! | Understanding Your Identity in Christ

Through the finished work of Jesus Christ, God has made every believer perfectly righteous. You may not always feel righteous, and your past—or even your present performance—may try to convince you otherwise, but your righteousness is not based on your feelings or your performance. It is based entirely on the finished work of Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, He not only paid the penalty for our sins, but He also gave us His righteousness. The Bible declares that righteousness has been imputed—credited and freely given—to everyone who believes in Him. It is not something we earn through good works or maintain through perfect behavior. It is a gift of God's grace. Righteousness is one of the defining characteristics of our new identity in Christ. It gives us the confidence to approach God without fear, shame, guilt, or condemnation. We no longer stand before Him as guilty sinners trying to earn His acceptance; we stand before Him as beloved sons and daughters who have already been accepted in Christ. When God looks at you, He does not see your failures as your identity. He sees the righteousness of His Son. Because you are in Christ, you have been clothed with His righteousness and welcomed into His presence. This revelation changes everything. It transforms how you see God, how you see yourself, and how you live each day. Don't spend your life trying to become what God has already declared you to be.
