【岐阜関ケ原古戦場記念館】石田三成の足跡を訪ねる③石田三成の逃避行をたどる

In this third installment of our journey in the footsteps of Ishida Mitsunari, we look at how Mitsunari fled after his defeat in the Battle of Sekigahara, and how he was eventually captured. Mitsunari fled from his headquarters on Mt. Sasao towards Mt. Ibuki. He may have headed for his own castle, Sawayama Castle in Omi, but it is believed that he would have been under strict surveillance, and he decided that he could not make it to Sawayama, so he began his escape in order to survive. It is said that after giving up on Sawayama Castle, Mitsunari headed for Furuhashi in Omi. However, just because Furuhashi was the place of his capture does not mean that Mitsunari actually headed there. It is possible that he was ultimately captured there.
