SGOMINATA BANDA DI PREDONI ALBANESI: SEQUESTRATO BOTTINO DA 500 MILA EURO | 20/12/2024

A3 NEWS Veneto 20/12/2024 - PADUA - At least 50 confirmed burglaries have been busted by Padua police: a massive haul of over half a million euros has been recovered by law enforcement. The images you are watching are the loot of a gang of thieves specializing in apartment burglaries. A significant amount of material was recovered from the bases of these criminals, originally from Albania. Padua police managed to arrest the ringleader, a 29-year-old, while the other two accomplices managed to escape capture. Fifty apartment burglaries were committed across Veneto, Lombardy, and Emilia Romagna. The haul recovered from some of the gang's hideouts amounts to over half a million euros. The investigation began last November when Padua officers identified a car used to carry out the raids. Thus began a tailing of the vehicle and analysis of technical data from security cameras and license plate readers across northern Italy, which led to the identification of a dozen thefts, all committed by three Albanians. The police then reconstructed the movements of the suspects, one of whom was apprehended by the Padua Flying Squad, in collaboration with colleagues from the Milan and Bergamo Flying Squads, in an apartment in Abbiategrasso (Milan). In this apartment, dozens of stolen items were found, including two radios and several phones used to keep in touch with his accomplices. The 29-year-old, believed to be the ringleader, with a criminal record for conspiracy to commit residential burglaries between 2015 and 2017, was not present in Italy, concealing his whereabouts partly because he was illegally present. The second suspect, 45, escaped capture during a raid on an apartment in Bareggio (Milan), where his partner, who had been charged with receiving stolen goods, was found. Another large portion of the stolen goods was found in the home of the man, who also has a criminal record for residential burglaries committed in 2012 in Italy and 2015 in Belgium. The third member of the gang, also with a criminal record for theft, also escaped capture. Police had intercepted him in the Bergamo area.
