STADSKANAAL - The Pagefestival returned to its roots this edition. Three days of partying was reduced to a two-day event. ‘Three days simply wasn't viable anymore. Due to rising costs, the financial risk became too high,’ explains organizer Nico Wiersema. When the schedule for the World Cup was announced, the organization decided to be creative. ‘The Netherlands match coincided exactly with the highlight of our festival. I know from experience that people often watch on the town square or in the pub anyway,’ says Wiersema. That is why the organization decided to broadcast the Netherlands-Sweden match on a big screen.
