Students’ Perceptions of Student-led Enquiry in Higher Education

ABSTRACT "The recent introduction of the Teaching Excellence Framework for higher education in England has created more of an equilibrium between the focus on research and teaching in universities in England. Given the increasing marketization of higher education in the United Kingdom it is critical that students feel that they are gaining good value for their expenditure on their higher education. Many universities are capitalizing on the benefits of information technology to provide more of a ‘blended’ approach to learning and teaching. The use of learning platforms which enable students to access lecture notes, videos of lectures, reading material, discussion boards and other activities which promote learning now mean that the traditional ‘lecture’ is only one way in which students’ access knowledge."
