Museveni donates a house & car to sister Nakampi who looked after his two daughters during the war.

The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady Janet Museveni and their two daughters, Natasha Museveni Karugire and Patience Rwabogo, at Mwera village in Kakindu subcounty, Mityana district. He had gone to hand over a fully furnished house and car to Ms. Anna Maria Mukaluyinda Nakampi of Kijaguzo Parish, Semuto in Nakaseke District, in appreciation for her support during the five-year war that brought the National Resistance Army, led by President Museveni, into power. Although she was not a soldier, Ms. Nakampi is among the civilians who participated closely with the armed freedom fighters during the struggles. Museveni informed the gathering that while at Kijaguzo Parish, they received assistance in terms of housing, feeding, and reconnaissance, directing them to hidden routes, among others. “I want to thank Sister Nakampi because she’s the reason I have come here. She helped us in the war. She was not a soldier, but together with Fr. Sseguya, they allowed us to use their houses and looked after our girls and some other people. I therefore thank Sister Nakampi,” President Museveni stated. For her part, Ann Maria Nakampi expressed gratitude to President Museveni for constructing a house for her where she will spend the rest of her life. “I thank you for not forgetting your people. I will continue doing my work of praying for you as I have been doing since we met, as I do my church work. Thank you very much. Who am I?” Sister Nakampi said while thanking Gen. Nalweyiso for looking after her very well. She encouraged young people to develop a good work ethic and engage in income-generating activities. “Let’s learn to work. One who doesn’t work becomes a problem not only to him/herself but also to the nation. I started working while still young, and I’m still digging up to now. I grow coffee and earn a lot of money. If you have not worked, where will you get the money from?” she stated.
