Dangote Refinery has done what no African industrial project has ever done — in April 2026 it became the world's single largest exporter of jet fuel, according to S&P Global Commodities at Sea. A 650,000 barrel-per-day refinery in Lekki, Lagos is now fuelling jets over Europe, North America and across Africa. Jet fuel exports jumped roughly 770% in two years. This is the milestone the whole world is reporting. But on Frontline Africa we go one layer deeper. Crude oil has fallen back below its pre-war levels, the Strait of Hormuz scare has cooled, and yet petrol at the Nigerian pump still sits at N1,300 and above.
