The first of a five-part series, this video will explain the two most common bit types, how they apply pressure to your horse and other considerations when choosing your horse's bit. We'll explore two primary types of horse bits, the Snaffle Bit and the Curb Bit and how they differ in terms of where and how they apply pressure to the horse from the riders cues as well as thoughts on when to use each type of bit. We'll also touch on Combination Bits. Choosing the right bit for your horse is critical to your horses health and comfort and choosing the wrong bit can be detrimental in the training of a young horse and can also interfere with your horse's well-being. Choosing the right bit will ensure that your horse is comfortable and gives the rider a solid connection to the horse so that the right cues are communicated to the horse.
