$44 WiFi Sauna Controller (Instead of $1,500?)

This is one of the simplest—and cheapest—ways I’ve seen to control a sauna remotely. Most WiFi sauna controllers cost well over $1,000. In this video, we take a look at a simple, real-world setup that does the same basic job—for about $44. I’m joined by Paul Ludlow up on Lake Vermilion in northern Minnesota. Paul grew up with sauna, runs a multi-generation family resort, and has spent a lifetime around these systems. What he’s put together here is about as straightforward as it gets: a stout, WiFi-enabled switch wired into a standard electric sauna stove. No bells and whistles. No unnecessary complexity. Just the ability to turn your sauna on and off remotely. We walk through: The small-footprint sauna build The Kuma electric heater and steam quality How the WiFi switch is wired and controlled Why this works (and what you actually need—and don’t need) Real-world use, including preheating after winter ski outings This isn’t about replacing higher-end systems—it’s about understanding what’s essential, and what’s optional. If you’re building or dialing in your own sauna, I write more about setups like this, along with deeper dives into sauna practice here: 👉 https://saunatimes.substack.com/ Question for you: Would you use a simple setup like this, or do you prefer a full-featured controller?
