Attorney: Springville PD Ignored Fired Officer's Evidence in Arrest Case
New developments in a continuing 2News Investigation after a dogged fight with Springville Police for body camera video they initially outright and wrongfully denied but then produced. The footage is from the body camera of Officer Kati Powell who was fired from the Springville Police Department on December 1, 2023. The video raises serious questions about police misconduct after a superior officer withheld information from Powell who was conducting a traffic stop that turned into a DUI investigation. What’s more, our investigation found that the police department also withheld that same evidence that could have exonerated the young man she arrested, and the potential misconduct carried over to the courtroom begging the question: was a young man wrongfully prosecuted.
