2026 Renault Twingo Electric Fahrbericht Review Kritik | Electric Drive Check

A closer look at the technical specifications of the Renault Twingo Electric quickly reveals that this is no flashy car, but an honest everyday hero with a few charming quirks. At 3.79 meters long, the 5-door remains pleasantly compact, while its width of 1.72 meters (1.95 meters including mirrors) ensures that parking garages aren't a nerve-wracking experience, especially since the turning circle of 9.87 meters practically demands a complete 360-degree turn. Renault uses a Renault 5 front axle and a modified Captur rear axle; the front features electric power steering, and the steering wheel requires 2.6 turns from lock to lock. Beneath the bodywork is a McPherson strut front axle. The wheelbase measures 2.49 meters, and the wheel wells can accommodate either 16- or 18-inch wheels. That means either 195/60 R16 or 205/45 R18 tires. There's no spare tire; instead, a tire kit is provided. Inside, there are four seats, so it's not a party bus, but rather the "we're going to the lake, and that's that" crowd. However, it does boast a trunk that expands from a solid 305 liters to a respectable 1010 liters if you happen to pack more than planned. These are the four seats, so it's not a party bus, but rather the kind of vehicle for a casual trip to the lake. The whole thing is powered by an electric motor with 60 kW (82 hp) and 175 Nm of torque. While these aren't exactly mind-blowing figures, they deliver just the right mix of "good acceleration" and "relaxed performance" for city driving. The top speed is 130 km/h, and the sprint to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds is more in the "get there, but without the stress" category. The car is front-wheel drive, and things get interesting when it comes to energy: The 27.5 kWh LFP battery is not only robust but also relatively unaffected by charging cycles. It charges at up to 11 kW via AC and draws a maximum of 50 kW at a DC fast charger, meaning you might not only order your coffee while it's charging, but also finish it. The battery itself has a 300-volt system and weighs approximately 212 kg. The WLTP cycle claims a range of up to 252 kilometers, with a consumption of 13.5 kWh per 100 kilometers. In city traffic, this can be reduced to 8.7 kWh, while on the highway, consumption can reach up to 19.2 kWh, revealing the true extent of the car's power consumption. Braking is handled by 280-millimeter discs front and rear, with the front discs being internally ventilated – a solid, if somewhat basic, feature for this class. The rear brakes are also affected by the parking brake, as the Renault Twingo lacks a "P" mode (Park). It's clear that some corners have been cut here. For example, there's no opening hood, but more on that later. Braking is handled by 280-millimeter discs front and rear, with the front discs being internally ventilated – a solid, if somewhat basic, feature for this class. The car weighs in at 1,294 kilograms ready to drive, which is pleasantly light for an electric vehicle. The permissible total weight is 1,595 kilograms, and there's no towing capacity, so forget about "just popping out to the hardware store for a trailer." However, it does boast a pleasantly quiet driving noise of 65 dB, which in everyday use is more like "relaxed cruising" than "here comes the electric circular saw." All in all, it's a vehicle that knows exactly what it wants to be and what it doesn't, and that's sometimes far more appealing than any attempt to be more than it actually is. The Techno version offers four levels of regenerative braking, including one-pedal driving to a standstill, automatic climate control, tinted rear and side windows, and adaptive cruise control. The nearly €1,600 price premium is also worthwhile thanks to the keyless entry system and the slightly improved sound system with six speakers instead of two. Prices start at €19,990, and you can find out everything else in the video! #renault #renaulttwingo #twingo Advertisement: Electric Drive on the web: https://www.electricdrivemagazin.de You can find the magazine at newsstands or digitally on these platforms: Electric Drive on Readly, the reading subscription service: https://de.readly.com/electricdrive Electric Drive digitally at Zinio: https://www.zinio.com/de/electric-dri...
