Glandwr Forest Carbon Study, in Conversation 2026.
Results from the first four years of the Glandwr Forest Carbon Study were recently published in the Nature publication, Communications Sustainability. Findings show that nature-based interventions, basalt addition or microbial enrichment, can boost tree growth and carbon sequestration in young native woodlands by up to 27%. In this webinar, you'll hear from Dr Bonnie Waring, Associate Professor in Ecosystems Ecology at Imperial College London, discuss the research findings. Dr Waring is joined by host Charles Nicholls, co-founder and Trustee of The Carbon Community, and by members of its Scientific Advisory Board. Dr Colin Averill, Founder and CEO at Funga and former forest microbiome restoration researcher at ETH Zurich. Professor Martin Bidartondo, Molecular Ecology, Imperial College London, and Honorary Research Associate at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Professor David Beerling, FRS FLSW, Director of the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation, Professor of Natural Sciences, University of Sheffield. Professor Pete Smith, FRS, FRSE, FNA, FEurASc, FRSB, F I Soil Sci. Chair in Plant & Soil Science, University of Aberdeen Link to the research paper 🔗 https://doi.org/10.1038/s44458-026-00...
