MotoMod #9 | Roma İçin Uluslararası Ehliyet, Turing Başvurusu ve İstanbul Trafiği

Today I'm going to a meeting in the Nispetiye area. I've also fixed the microphone, hopefully the sound is better this time. Actually, after the meeting I was going to Turing to get my international driving license. Because we're going on a trip to Rome on June 19th with my Vespa, and we'll need this document to ride a motorcycle in Italy. Our regular driver's license is sufficient in some countries, but it's a little different in Italy. So, to be on the safe side, it's necessary to prepare the international driving license as well. They require documents such as a passport photo, driver's license, documents obtained from e-Government, and payment receipt. While trying to take care of that today, I also saw once again how much easier riding a motorcycle in Istanbul makes life. If I had gone from Başakşehir to Nispetiye by car, I would have had to leave at least 1.5-2 hours earlier, but I arrived much more comfortably, stress-free, and without parking problems by motorcycle. I also encountered a police checkpoint on the way. Since my documents were in order, I didn't have any problems. This reminded me once again before the long journey: documents, equipment, and preparation are truly crucial for motorcycles. The issue of the emergency lane is another matter. Officially, motorcycles don't have a clear right to use the emergency lane, but the logic of riding a motorcycle in Istanbul traffic starts here. Of course, doing so requires being very careful, giving way to emergency vehicles, and not abusing the system. Afterwards, I learned that I didn't need to go to Turing physically. I could apply online through the Turkish Touring and Automobile Association's website. I completed my application by uploading front and back photos of my driver's license, driver's license information from e-Government, proof of residence, a biometric photo, and the payment receipt. Now, the next steps are green insurance, the 30,000 km service for the motorcycle, and pre-trip equipment preparation. The motorcycle will go in for service on Tuesday, and hopefully, we'll set off on our trip to Rome on Friday. The excitement is high. I hope everything goes well and it's a beautiful and enjoyable journey.
